JOB TITLE:  Information Systems Manager

GENERAL FUNCTIONS:

The IS Manager is responsible for all operations and issues related to information services within the Silicon Valley office.  The IS Manager develops and implements office policies and procedures that relate to information services, ensures quality and timely technology support to the user community, and promotes optimum group performance of the IS Department staff.   Functions are performed independently with general guidance from the local Office Administrator and the Chief Information Officer.

SUPERVISES:   IS Staff (desktop technicians and trainer)

PRIMARY DUTIES:

-Responsible for all information systems services in the Silicon Valley office to include daily operations and staff management.  Ensures peak performance of all information systems, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

-Oversees the delivery of the full range of technical and application-specific services to local office attorneys and non-attorneys.   Supports client driven requirements.

-Supports firm policies and implements firm technology initiatives.  Coordinates with firm IS staff and contractor personnel to accomplish firm IS goals in conjunction with local-specific needs.

-Participates in strategic planning with both firm IS and local managers, including budget formulation and execution.

-Analyzes technical and applications needs of local practice groups; recommends priority and develops courses of action.  Implements or prepares recommendations that address all budgetary and staffing needs.

- Coordinates telephone and voicemail training. 

-Ensures timely and quality Help Desk services on demand for technical problems or user training issues.

-Manages building security system, including coding and distribution of access keys

- Maintains all systems relating to support of office’s network requirements, including backup generator, cooling equipment for network room.

- Coordinates videoconferencing setup and operation.

- May require more than 40 hours per week to perform the essential duties of the position.

OTHER DUTIES:

-Assist Office Administrator, as needed, with annual budget for IS Department.

-Assist HR Manager with training program development and implementation.

-Collaborate with the HR Manager on the administration of the IS Department staff.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

-Minimum of 5 years in IS organizational management.  Two years of which include experience supervising staff.

-BA/BS Degree in Information Systems or equivalent preferred.

-Demonstrated ability to work in a distributed, client-server systems environment.

-Experienced in evaluating and recommending new hardware and software for the department.

-Innovative, creative thinker able to coordinate various projects simultaneously.

-Strong oral and written communication skills, to work with members of local and satellite IS Departments within the Firm.

-Proven leadership ability in a fast paced IS environment.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

-Typical office environment with little exposure to adverse noise, temperature, etc. conditions.
