The manager of regional information services is the face of IS to the regional office.
-Provides high quality of user support, tracks assistance requests, resolving or escalating as appropriate, analyzes trends and drives continuous improvement.
-Completes local projects and global implementations in a timely, high quality, and cost effective fashion.
-Deploys, maintains, and support of all IS systems and equipment in the office.
-Conducts training of office personnel in appropriate skills and capabilities.
-Manages local application software administration and network administration as appropriate
-Collaborates with other regional and Firm personnel on regional or global initiatives or interests.
-Manages the local IS departmental budgets and forecasts. Manages resources within approved limits. Responsible for the procurement of locally obtained, IS-related items.
-Operates local infrastructure; ensures accurate backup of all systems.
-Observes confidentiality in all client and firm matters.
QUALIFICATIONS:
-Bachelor’s degree in a computer/technology-related discipline and at least five years of experience in computer hardware and applications operations, telecommunications, PC support, and end-user support in a legal or professional services environment. Experience managing IS staff and departmental resources in a high energy and demanding environment.
-Knowledge in computer, telephone and desktop fax operations, maintenance and support of computer software/hardware, Microsoft Windows, Windows Server and Novell network operating systems, Lotus Notes, Docs Open, SQL Server, Ethernet networks, wide-area networks, cabling, Microsoft Office and other Windows-based software applications, Litigation Support software. Experience in providing remote and/or home user support including Windows and Macintosh PC’s.
-Must be able to handle multiple projects simultaneously. Must be able to implement smooth conversions and upgrades for new software and hardware.
-Must be able to communicate effectively with a diverse group of end-users.
-Must be able to manage, understand and troubleshoot the Firm’s network infrastructure, including, but not limited to hardware and software components; daily network maintenance; monitor daily back-up of all network servers and ensure that back-up tapes are reliable and are stored off-site as needed.
-Must be able to understand hardware requirements, oversee or perform upgrades on firm-standard software in a timely manner and take necessary steps to ensure functionality once upgrade is complete.
-Must be able to oversee and understand standard backup procedures and have the ability to use firm-standard back-up software using Backup Exec backup server; Windows NT servers including Lotus Notes mail and database servers; SQL server; CD ROM Image servers, PC Docs database server with indexing server.
-Must have a working knowledge of Cisco switches and routers
-Must have the ability to analyze systems and provide cost analysis.
-Must have the physical ability and willingness to move and install computer equipment. This requires occasional transportation of devices in excess of seventy pounds, and lying, stooping and bending in order to fully install various pieces of equipment.
-Must have the managerial experience and interpersonal skills necessary to supervise staff, facilitate individual and group meetings to define goals, strategies implement projects in a cost-effective and timely manner. Ensure that staff has adequate computer and customer service training. Train staff on system operations with ordinary courtesy and tact. Maintain equipment inventory.
-Must be willing at times to work demanding hours to perform the essential duties of the position.
-Must arrange to provide after-hours help desk coverage on a rotating basis.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES & SPECIFIC DUTIES:
-Responsible for the computer system operations.
-Responsible for operation, acquisition, maintenance and effective use of all computer equipment.
-Maintain and repair hardware within limits of ability; coordinate other repairs as expeditiously and economically as possible using outside vendors.
-Make determination and recommendation for computer budget necessary for office needs.
-Prepares and manages office IS operating budget under the direction of the Office Administrator and central IS designee.
-Plan, direct and activities of computer network.
-Monitor Network statistics, performance and hardware on a daily basis.
-Work with central IS team to enhance computer network based on existing enterprise infrastructure.
-Perform network upgrades for network software as directed.
-Has full knowledge of the cable plant and network design and is able to locate, diagnose and repair problems on a timely basis, both hardware and software. Maintains electronic records of cable plant. Capable of relocating and changing computer equipment and cabling as it becomes necessary. Coordinate vendor maintenance/repairs of computer network equipment.
-Coordinate maintenance and security of computer room.
-Maintain network security; server inventory, floor plans, computer, printer & laptop inventories and documentation of cabling plant and network wiring closets.
-Assist with computer communication matters related to CMS, PeopleSoft and DTE.
-Verify all volatile systems (e.g., electronic mail, wide area network) are operating properly.
-Maintain and implement computer-related firm policies.
-Provide on-going support for all computer applications as implemented within the office.
-Communicate requirements for local applications to central IS and coordinate development, documentation, and support plan for local applications.
-Provide computer support to end-user.
-Evaluate end-user needs and coordinate training.
Telecommunications
-Maintain and troubleshoot Northern Telecom PBX (digital phone switch); administer Branch XP voice mail system; Network and PBX cabling; punch down digital, analog and data cabling to back boards and patch panels.
-Maintain and troubleshoot video conferencing equipment.
-Must be able to support cellular telephones, and wireless devices.
-Coordinate changes and/or upgrades to telephone telecommunications and digital phone system.
Manage Departmental Staff
-Provide proper training and on-the-job experience for staff.
-Make staff recommendations/adjustments when necessary.
-Maintain and provide annual staff performance evaluations and relevant records; review and approve weekly timesheets and PTO requests.
-Manage staff in accordance with office policies and procedures
