Telecommunications Engineer - Charleston, SC
This is a senior-level individual contributor position responsible for design, implementation, and maintenance of telecommunications architecture and strategy. This encompasses telephone, voice messaging, video conference systems and services and circuits. The position includes operational oversight of components of company's telecommunications and video conferencing infrastructure and primary responsibility for operation of components classified as company-wide.
The Telecommunications Engineer will lead in the design, implementation, operations of other aspects of telecommunications for the company's 12 sites. The Telecommunications Engineer develops firm-wide policies and procedures and provides technical oversight to location operations. Primary duties include leadership of or participation in following:

The Telecommunications Engineer will lead or participate in the design, implementation, operations of other aspects of telecommunications at 12 sites. The Telecommunications Engineer develops firm-wide policies and procedures and provides technical oversight to location operations. Primary duties include leadership of or participation in following: development and maintenance of telecommunications, voice messaging, video conferencing architecture and strategy development and implementation of operational policies and procedures at a firm-wide level development of firm wide backup and disaster recovery strategies, oversight to ensure consistent site implementation identification and evaluation of emerging technologies preparation and communication of proposals for upgrades and new implementations project management of telecommunications initiatives
Other duties include: Daily operational responsibilities for all telecommunications and video conferencing components classified as company-wide. This includes planning, installation/implementation, and on-going maintenance of hardware and operating system, backup and recovery. development, implementation, operational oversight of back up and disaster recovery of all telecommunication system. functional guidance of remote sites where firm wide servers are located. leadership in resolution of problems escalated from sites with regard to company-wide servers. development and performance of monitoring and reporting of servers classified as firm wide. maintenance of comprehensive system of telecommunications analysis and statistics gathering software to monitor usage, performance, and to identify and resolve any problems.
Requirements: BS/MS in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field.
*Must have 7+ years experience in Telecommunications; 5+ years with Nortel Meridian Systems.
*Must have proven experience with voice messaging and video conference technology.
*Must have proven experience with TCP/IP, Ethernet, LAN, WAN, routers, switches, network management.
*Must have experience with telecommunications and network administration including experience with Cisco routers, Compaq servers, Microsoft NT and 2000 Server, Active Directory, network storage and backup systems.
*Must have excellent analytical, and verbal and written communication skills, and must be a team player.
*Must have proven experience in implementation of complex telecommunications applications.
*Must be able to work on multiple concurrent projects.
*Must be proficient in use of Microsoft Office, Project, and Visio.
